HUNGARIAN STATE OPERA: ROMEO AND JULIET 2012
|
The ultimate love story, Romeo and Juliet is the perfect ballet while on a romantic break in Budapest. The operas and ballets of Budapest take place in one of the most beautiful monuments of the city, the "opera house." This historical monument was built between 1875 and 1884 and was paid for by the emperor Franz Joseph. But he wasn't very keen on the statues of composers such as Beethoven or Mozart, built by Miklós Ybl and the neo-Renaissance architecture.Today, however, you'll find the"opera house" is one of the most charming old buildings in Budapest and it's difficult to imagine that it was considered to be such a modern edifice when it was built.
