San Bernardino alle Ossa is a very peculiar church in Milan due to its bizarre and sinister decoration: made up of a great number of human skulls and bones.
this strange church is decorated entirely with human bones. A Milanese cemetery was running out of room for human remains and placed them into a small chamber. Soon enough, a church was built connected to it.
Today the small side chapel is still filled with human skulls from the Middle Ages along with some frescoes. Although a little creepy, this fascinating church is well worth a visit.
