The Grünangergasse is a picturesque small street situated in the center of Vienna, on the inside of the Innere Stadt neighborhood.

Its name literally means “alley of the green anger”, but don’t allow yourself to be deceived from the appearances, in fact this paved street is extremely tranquil and its habitants don’t seem to get angry at all.

Before the expansion of the city happened at the end of the 1700s, this area presented itself still as a green pasture.  The construction of buildings like the Rottal Palais and the magnificent Fürstenberg, designed by the Italian architect Antonio Beduzzi, transformed this street into one of the most elegant and luxurious of Vienna.

Today besides the museums and art galleries you can also find many restaurants and boutiques.

Advice from Divento…

Don’t miss the gate of the Neuberger Hof, portraying two lions that support a gold shield of Fürstenberg, overcome by statues of two dogs.
