Appian Way Regional Park, Rome

Come to the Appian Way Regional Park to enjoy a great Roman park!

The Appian Way Regional Park offers something special for any visitor!  It is located between the city center of Rome and the Alban Hills.  The park is composed of the Appian Way, the Aqueduct Park, villas, tombs, and much more.  You can find ancient artifacts and massive aqueducts in the park.

The Appian Way was one of the most important roads in the Roman Empire because it connected Rome to the coast of southeast Italy.  When the Roman Empire collapsed, the road became abandoned.  However, the road was repaired and a new one was constructed parallel to the old one.  In between the 10-mile stretch is the park.  Along the roads, you can see tombs, catacombs, Roman baths, and mausoleums.

The Aqueduct Park shows the power and wealth of the Roman Empire.  They were very advanced to create a structures like this.  There are remains from villas on the sides of the aqueducts.  On either side of the park, there are crops being grown and sheep living on the farms as well.

The Appian Way Regional Park is full of archaeological remains, hidden treasures, and ancient artifacts.  Spending an afternoon here is a great way to take in the beauty of the park!
