ARC DE TRIOMPHE GRAND PRIX HORSE RACE October 2 and 3rd 2010 |
If you want to rub shoulders with the rich and famous at one of the biggest events of the international horse racing calender, don't miss the Grand Prix de l`Arc de Triomphe in Paris, which promises big hats, flowing champagne and strutting celebrities. For a panoramic view of the race course and a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower in the distance, book grandstand tickets at the Longchamp racecourse in Paris.
First held in 1920, the Arc de Triomphe is a 12 furlong race which takes place on the first Sunday of every October, concluding with a heart-stopping 500 metre finishing straight and with no less than 1.6 million euros of prize money resting upon it. It is renowned for its international array of famous horses, jockeys, owners and trainers, and it is considered to be the ultimate test of any flat racer.
However, if the four-legged activity does not inspire you, the Arc de Triomphe weekend has many other diversions. Sponsored by the Lucien Barriere group, it attracts the outrageously rich and well-dressed from both the racing world and beyond, making the most of the opportunity to drink large quantities of champagne. Like any racing event worth its salt, a hat competition, organised by Madame Figaro, will push the boundaries of fashion even further as people compete for the attention of the television cameras and the electric atmosphere provided by a crowd of over 40,000 will no doubt provide much entertainment.
This weekend represents one of the most important dates in the horse racing World Series, for owners such as the Aga Khan and the ususal array of celebrity trainers and jockeys, to compete at the highest level.

Hotel Accommodation available on request
All our hotels are handpicked by the DIVENTO team working in our Paris office. Above you will see an example of our two star and three star hotels.
As well as being comfortable, clean and quiet all our hotels have charm and style. We avoid establishments with grumpy or unresponsive personnel. If we don't like dealing with them, why would you?
All our hotels are in Paris' 5th or 6th arrondissements (areas). This is easily the nicest part of Paris, so why spoil your trip by staying elsewhere. (Don't get fooled into staying in a hotel in the seedy areas surrounding train stations, on the pretext that the hotel 'is conveniently located')
The 5th and 6th arrondissements (areas) are known as The Rive Gauche (The Left Bank). They include the legendary Boulevard Saint Germain, the beautiful Jardin de Luxembourg (the former private gardens of Marie de Medici) as well as narrow winding streets bulging with boutiques, bars and restaurants of every shape size and description.
All rooms are double rooms and include bath or shower or both. Please let us know whether you want twin or double beds.
If you need a single room or a triple room, please let us know, we will almost surely be able to help you, like the price is slightly different.
Prices include Breakfast and a free bottle of wine on arrival.
If you have any questions or problems during your stay, our DIVENTO Rep in Paris is there to help you.
