The futurist artist and poet GIACOMO BALLA at Palazzo Merulana, Rome’s newest art museum.
Palazzo Merulana, a new space for art and culture, displays the colorful and expressive paintings of Giacomo Balla; the protagonist of the Italian divisionism from the late nineteenth century. He was inspired by the cinema, fashion photography and relevant subjects that was presented daily in glossy magazines and simultaneously watched and imitated by millions of people.
The exhibition Abstract Futurism to Iconic Futurism (Dal Futurismo astratto al Futurismo iconico) explores the artistic journey of the artist, including the painting Portrait of Primo Carneira (1933) which is a part of the musems’ permanent collection. Curated by Fabio Benzi, it investigates images associated with fashion photography, the cinema and the iconicity of the media.
Palazzo Merulana offers it’s visitors sixty works of this avant-garde painter until June 17.
