Altes Museum, Berlin

The first public museum in Berlin is devoted to ancient art. Since restoration work in 2010–11, it houses the Antikensammlung of the Berlin State Museums.

Erected by Schinkel between 1824 and 1830, the Altes Museum was the first public Museum built in Berlin. The building itselft is a neo-classic masterpiece, which was damaged during the second World War, hence it was rebuilt between 1951 and 1966. The museum houses archeological collections.
