A beautiful public square filled with grand historical buildings.
This grand square was built in the late-18th-century and named after the Gens d’Armes, a military regiment composed of French Protestant refugees known as Huguenots. The square is a wonderful place to have a rest while you admire the architecture.
At the front of the square is the Konzerthaus (1821), a neoclassical building complete with an impressive portico designed by Karl Friedrich Schinkel.
Flanking the square are the Französischer Dom and Deutscher Dom (French and German Cathedrals). These 18th-century buildings are not actually cathedrals, but take their names from their two domes.
