Alexanderplatz, Berlin

A large square in the middle of Berlin.

Known to locals simply as “Alex”, this huge square is a hub of shopping and transport right in the heart of the city.

Formerly a military parade ground, King Frederick William III gave the plaza its name after Tsar Alexander I’s visit to the city in 1805.

The square is full of restaurants, shops, and public transport. Make sure you take time to look around and see Berlin’s World Time Clock and the Television Tower while you’re there.
