González Martí National Museum of Ceramics and Decorative Arts, Valencia

As there is a big tradition of ceramics art in Valencia (as well as in the whole country), the magnificent Palacio del Marqués de Dos Aguas is dedicated to this beautiful industry. The palace itself is worth seeing, especially the main entrance which consists of two bodies made of alabaster from the quarries of Picassent.

The founder of the museum, González Martí, was a passionate ceramics collector. His varied taste in ceramics made for a quite heterogeneous collection. However, the museum represents Spanish as well as foreign ceramics, with special relevance given to works from Valencia. The ceramic collections contain over 14,800 pieces, and it features the largest national collection of ceramics from the 18th century. The gems of the collection are undoubtedly the pieces donated by Picasso. The palace itself is worth seeing, especially the main entrance which consists of two bodies made of alabaster from the quarries of Picassent.
