Valencia History Museum

The museum is fully dedicated to Valencian history from its very origins to the present day. It is a quite recent institution (2001). Thanks to modern audio-visual technologies, the museum is highly relevant in the current scene.

One of the highlights of the museum is a jewel of Valencian industrial architecture, the primitive water tank built by Ildefonso Cerdá in 1850. The whole building itself was originally a water tank, the first one in Valencia. At full capacity, it could hold over 9,000 m3 of water. As the capacity needs rose, a new deposit was built and the old one was put out of service and almost abandoned. In the mid-1990s, it was rediscovered and brought to life.
