Founded in 1923, this museum exhibits permanently sketches, models, suits, decors, and numerous paintings.

The museum is in the Lobkowitz Palace, built by Giovanni Pietro for Count Dietrischstein between 1685 and 1687 and later acquired by the Lobkowitz family.

Models of the original Hofburg theatre and the Eroica-Saal can be seen at the museum, which is also a great place to explore Austrian theatre in the 1940s. The Theater Museum for Children and Young People organizes tours, workshops and performances.
