Palazzo Ducale (Doge's Palace), Venice

The Palazzo Ducale (Doge's Palace) was built in Venetian Gothic style, and is the most visited "monument" of the city of Venice.

It is composed of layers of building elements and ornamentation, from its 14th and 15th century original foundations to the significant Renaissance and opulent Mannerist adjunctions. Each room holds you in awe, with its superbe paintings on the wall and ceilings.

The Divento.com don't miss list:

Il Paradiso by Tintoretto, Neptune Offering Gifts to Venice by Giovan Battista Tiepolo, fresco of St. Christopher by Titian, Venezia by Giovan Battista Tiepolo, Madonna col bambino by a member of the Vivarini school.
