Anyone who has ever put a foot inside Biblioteca Salaborsa will eagerly tell you that it is so much more than just a public library.
To start with, the cultural package includes lots of history and aesthetics. The uninterrupted flow of centuries is visible underneath the glass floor in the main hall where there are the archeological findings from the Iron Age (7th c. BC), Etruscan civilization (4th c. BC) and the remains of the Roman city, founded in 189 BC. If that wasn’t enough, the library is situated inside the splendid Palazzo d'Accursio, featuring beautifully painted ceiling and unique architecture.
Then, Salaborsa is a popular meeting space. There is a warm and welcoming Cafe in the basement, packed with locals, making it a great spot for a lunch break and people-watching.
