The old manuscripts and “secret drawers” encourage museum visitors to search, discover and appreciate the progression of musical notation down the centuries. One can feel history and art living through its superbly crafted instruments on display. The library’s highlight is a signature of Mozart, who studied in Bologna, on a copy of his opera.
Housed in a 16th-century palazzo, the museum is charged with the atmosphere of sheer elegance and beauty, a treat in its own. Audio guides are available in English and Italian feeding you information on the exhibits as well as a taste of the baroque music.
