National Archaeological Museum of Florence: All Year

The National Archaeological Museum of Florence is a must see attraction!

The National Archaeological Museum of Florence is a must see attraction!  It holds Etruscan, Roman, and Greek collections.  The museum was first inaugurated by Victor Emmanuel II in 1870 with the original collections residing from the Medicis.

The Etruscan collections contain ancient pieces that have gone through many restorations and repairs to conserve its original value and beauty.  The Roman collections consist of bronze statues of gods and goddesses.  One of the largest collections here is the Greek collections.  It is so big that it takes up two floors.  There are ceramics and vases from Etruscan tombs.  The most valuable vase is the “Vase Francois” from 570 BC.  The vase is decorated with mythological scenes on the sides.

The Archaeological Museum is a window into ancient times.  You can admire artifacts from centuries ago that show what life was like back then.  This must see attraction is a great way to escape the hustle and bustle of Florence!
