The Cantinetta Antinori in Florence is on the ground floor of the Antinori Mansion, the former 15th century home of one of Tuscany's most famous wine producers. It is just steps away from Santa Maria Novella and the Duomo. The several rooms of the palazzo, which is built around a courtyard, are open to the public, with some interesting ‘bits and pieces’: family albums, a fake library of books, some very old, dusty bottles, some pretty murals and a wrought iron gate looking out onto a beautiful garden.

The restaurant is open to the public for lunch and dinner, and it is still possible to try all of the Antinori wines either by the bottle or by the glass, tasting them together with a selection of regional and seasonal specialities. This is a serious restaurant frequented by local and international foodies and wine lovers.

Starters include toasted bread with black cabbage and cold cuts of Cinta senese (from Guado al Tasso estate) or Tuscan tomato and bread soup. Main courses include prawns and raw artichokes, grilled entrecote from Tuscany with roast potato, or beef with pecorino cheese from Castello della Sala. For dessert try the chestnut-flour cake with ricotta cheese or their warm pear pie with mascarpone.
