Hôtel de Caumont, Aix-en-Provence, Provence

In 1715, François Rolland de Réauville, the Marquis de Cabannes, built the mansion in the bourgeoisie Mazarin district. It remains one of the most magnificent residences in Aix-en-Provence, hosting art exhibitions, concerts and lectures.

Dating back to the 17th-century, the checkerboard Mazarin district was the most expensive  area of the city and home to the parliamentarians and grande bourgeoisie of the time. The Hôtel de Caumont is in the heart of the district. The courtyard and garden are rarities for urban residences in Aix and show how rich the Marquis de Cabannes was.
