Don't miss the Municipal Museum of Contemporary Art or SMAK (Stedelijk Museum voor Actuele Kunst) if you're going to Ghent.

The City Museum for Contemporary Art is a relatively new museum which was founded in 1957. It is particularly renowned both for its permanent collection (Karel Appel, Francis Bacon, Panamarenko, Andy Warhol, etc.) and for its temporary exhibitions, often provocative.

If you decide to visit this place you can't miss these works of art among the others: Wirtschaftswerte by Joseph Beuys, Die Toilette by Ilya Kabakov, Figure Sitting by Francis Bacon.
