A 2nd-century CE marble mausoleum and monument dedicated to the Roman statesman, Julius Antiochus Filopappos, found on the top of Filopappou Hill.
On the top of Filopappou Hill is the elaborate mausoleum of the aristocrat Gaius Julius Antiochus Epiphanes Philopappos. Philopappos’ sister, Julia, an Athenian citizen, erected the mausoleum and monument following his death in 116 CE.
Standing in front of the monument, you will see that it has two levels, each decorated with a frieze celebrating the life of Philopappos.
