Benaki Museum, Athens

The Benaki is right in the heart of Athens, opposite the Presidential Palace and The National Gardens.

With over 30,000 items including a collection of Greek art spanning antiquity to modernity; departments of Chinese, Coptic and Islamic art; a collection of maps from the 15th to the19th century and a department of childhood toys and games, this museum has something to offer everyone.

The most interesting collection is the 6,000 paintings, drawing, and prints from the modern period. Although the collection includes works from all over Europe, special attention is paid to Greek artists from the 19th and 20th centuries.
