It’s definitely worth taking the tram out to Lyon’s newest neighbourhood: the Confluence to go to this trendy rooftop bar. Le Sucre, which is on the roof of the cultural exhibition space la Sucrière, hosts club nights, concerts and other music events all year long. They feature the latest hip hop, techno and electronic bands and DJs, such as The Hacker, Moxie and Rejjie Snow; with some performing all night until the sunrise and others for a chill-after-work atmosphere on a Friday evening. If clubbing isn’t really your thing, you should still check it out for a drink, the stunning rooftop view and ambient beats on a Sunday afternoon (from 16.00, with free entry before 18.00).

The Confluence area is worth a visit in its own right. Until 2003, it was just an industrial wasteland, but it then succumbed to one of France’s biggest urban developments and is now known for its cutting-edge and eye-catching architecture, in sharp contrast with the traditional Renaissance buildings of Vieux Lyon just 20 minutes away.
