This adorable little restaurant and tearoom gives you a taste of Chinese street food in Lyon, specifically bao and guabao: bao is essentially a steamed dumpling filled with different meats or vegetables, and guabao is a steamed bread garnished with meat, tofu and other Chinese flavours. Dishes are small (starting at €4.50 for a bao and €7.90 for a guabao), but inexpensive so you can try a few different options or make room for dessert with their kumquat cheesecake (€5.20), matcha crème brûlée (€3.60) or sweet bao (€3.50, the Nutella and banana one is particularly delicious). Accompany your food with various East Asian drinks, such as bubble tea (€5), Chinese beers (€4), Thai fruit juices (€3.50) and a selection of aromatic green teas (€5). And what makes a meal here even more enjoyable is the restaurant's pretty decor of colourful vases, green plants and paper umbrellas suspended from the ceiling.

Bistro Zakka is found in Guillotière, an area of Lyon about 10 minutes walk across the Rhône from Bellecour that is popular with students and immigrants, so around here you will find many more cheap and delicious restaurants serving cuisine from all around the world, as well as Lyon’s little Chinatown.
