Get into the festive spirit by visiting Lyon's Christmas Market at Place Carnot, where there are over 100 wooden huts selling hot food, handmade gifts and artisan biscuits.

From the 24-th of November to the 24-th of December, Lyon opens its beloved Christmas market at Place Carnot just outside Perrache train station. Wrap up warm, grab a cup of mulled wine or hot chocolate, and get into the festive spirit by strolling past stalls and soaking up the twinkling lights, cheerful music and tempting smells. There are over 100 wooden huts selling hot food, handmade gifts, artisan biscuits, and lots of other things that would make lovely Christmas presents. And for the kids, there’s a Christmas train ride around, a carousel, face painting, storytelling.

If you time your visit for the 8th December you’ll be able to experience the best of Lyon at Christmas time; The Fête des Lumières (Festival of Lights) lasts for three nights in celebration of the Virgin Mary, with stunning light and sound displays which are projected on buildings across the city, with many of the locals putting candles on their window sills.
