Contemporary art gallery in Barcelona’s old town
The brainchild of two very different, yet very compatible artists: Italian painter and scenographer Federic Bencini, and Spanish florist and plastic artis specialist Raúl Pernia. They opened their first gallery in 2005 in the trendy Santa Caterina neighbourhood of Barcelona’s old town, and in 2011 they expanded into a second gallery on the same street, directly opposite the first one. The glass fronts of the galleries makes it seem like they almost connect.
Warm colours will draw you in to look at the meticulous display inside. Bencini’s richly coloured fragmentary paintings are complemented by the delicate, tactile sculptural work of Raul. More than just a gallery, this place doubles up as the workshop where the artists create their pieces, allowing you to see the works in progress, as well as a venue for theatrical, musical and social events, giving it a more relaxed atmosphere than many galleries. Bencini Barcelona has quickly become a cultural reference point in the city, why not go and see why?
