Opened in 1997 after mammoth restoration, the Marqueyssac Gardens, with its winding paths around the curves and blobs of boxwood bushes is one of the most visited gardens in Périgord.
The paths are organised into three circuits. All of them leading 800m from the château to a high look out point above the river with a fantastic panorama over the Dordogne valley.
There are lots of events throughout the year, including an Easter Egg hunt, a small arts festival and evening strolls by candlelight.
Peacocks, the symbol of Marqueyssac, happily strut around the gardens with their luminous blue feathers in mating season and a genuine dinosaur skeleton acquired by the estate from the USA in December 2016 is on display in the Nature Pavilion.
