Out of Bordeaux’s many gardens, Square Vinet’s is the only one where the plants don’t grow from the ground. This little gem of a square is just around the corner from Église Saint-Pierre.
Intended to be a park for the neighbourhood’s children, the Square Vinet has a vertical garden, meaning that the walls around the square are covered in botanical plants. Created by French artist Patrick Blanc in 2005, the square creates the impression that the plants spring forth from the walls, like nature’s very own mural. All the flowers and greenery create a very calm atmosphere and the kids can enjoy the big playground here.
