Built in the 15th-century by Pier Maria Rossi for his beloved mistress, Bianca Pellegrini, this is one of the best-preserved castles in the whole region.
In the Golden Bedchamber, so-called because of the gold leafing that once adorned the walls, you can still admire the fresco cycle which tells the pair’s love-story. Stroll across the elegant courtyard and its ornate terracotta tiling, encompassed by the castle’s double walls and four mighty towers. Then step inside the Oratory of San Nicomede with its beautiful frescoed walls, where Rossi and Pellegrini were buried together after they died.
