Medieval Castle, Castellammare, Campania, Italy

A castle dating back to the 9th-century and in use up to the 18th-century.

The Italian town of Castellammare takes its name from the hilltop fortress known as “The Castle by the Sea” at its centre. Built by the Duke of Sorrento in the 9th-century, everything from conferences to weddings take place here.

Climb to the top of the hill and admire its medieval walls. Make sure you enjoy the cracking views of the Gulf of Naples and Mount Vesuvius.
