The best of the Platz to chill out in Munich.
A tourist hotspot, Odeonsplatz is one of the famous squares in Munich. It is also the well-known site of Hitler’s Munich Putsch. The three large arches facing towards the square belong to the Feldherrnhalle, and the a the large memorial in the distance is the Siegestor. The large yellow church on the left is the Theatinerkirche and is worth a look inside. From Odeonsplatz you can walk in to the city centre for shopping and food; towards Maxvorstadt for an injection of culture; or towards the Englischer Garten for some relaxation. The Hofgarten is also right next to you and is definitely worth a visit. As a pose to Marienplatz or Karlsplatz, Odeonsplatz is a calm square with very little hustle and bustle, being a little further out of the centre than these two places. There are some top bars and restaurants in this area and it is a good location to spend an evening having a drink or just people watching.
