Warhol to Richter, Exhibition, Albertina, Vienna: Until 6 September 2019

The Albertina has picked roughly 70 pieces to map the diversity of Contemporary Art from 1945 to the present day. It has invited household names, including Andy Warhol, as well as some new faces, such as Brigitte Kowanz, to grace their gallery walls.

The Albertina puts the contemporary into contemporary art with their display of around 70 works, which range from the latter half of the 20th century to the freshest releases on the block. Each of these pieces plays an important role in showing the vast diversity of the outlook, views and ideas adopted by the post-1945 art world. See these artworks united through themes that transcend geographical and cultural boundaries. Spot mutual, recurring ideas of hyperrealism, abstraction, colour-aesthetic and politics subtly lurking in the varying pieces by various artists.

Returning favourites to the gallery include Anselm Kiefer, Gerhard Richter, Gottfried Helnwein, Andy Warhol, Alex Katz, and Maria Lassnig. However, there are also some equally talented new kids on the block, as this is also the premier exhibition of Brigitte Kowanz, Los Carpinteros, Rainer Wölzl and Kiki Smith.
