Wallenstein Gardens and Palace, Prague

Wallenstein Palace, home to the Czech Senate, has one of Prague’s most exquisite gardens and is perhaps the most significant Baroque building in the Lesser Town.

Located just down the hill from Prague Castle, Wallenstein Palace was originally built between 1623 and 1630 in the Baroque style as a home for Albretch von Wallenstein, who had become revered as Commander-in-Chief of the Imperial forces in the Thirty Years War.

The palace itself can be visited on weekends, but the garden is open to visitors all summer. Home to a koi pond, white peacocks and the peculiar Dripstone Wall with its attached eagle-owl cage, the gardens contain a lot of unique, interesting sights you aren’t likely to see elsewhere in Prague.
