Aragonese Castle of Ischia, Ischia, Campania, Italy

A castle on a small islet in the Tyrrhenian Sea with over 2,000 years of history.

Next to Ischia is a small rocky outcrop. Where Hiero I of Syracuse built a village in 474 BCE. In the 4th-century BCE, the Romans took control and built a fort. Eventually, Alfonso V of Aragon conquered the island and built a large castle during the 15th-century.

Take a stroll along its walls and explore the many churches and viewpoints with spectacular views over the Gulf of Naples. If you get peckish, there are several places to grab a bite to eat.
