From Chagall to Malévich: Art in Revolution will open on February 9 at the Recoletos Hall of the Fundación Mapfre in Madrid. The exhibition brings together more than 90 works of well-known Russian artists.

The exhibition features 92 works from 29 Russian artists who got ahead of modernity in an unprecedented and audacious way during the years before and immediately after the 1917 Revolution, whose first centenary was recently celebrated.

As its name indicates, the exhibitions prominently features Marc Chagall and Kazimir Malevich, but also includes works by 27n other great artists such as Vasili Kandinsky, Natalia Goncharova, Liubov Popova, Lisitski, Jean Pougny and Alexánder Ródchenko, among others.

The exhibition is complemented by 24 publications of the period that demonstrate how the Russian avant-gardes, which permeated all areas of life, established a fertile dialogue with literature and editorial design.
