Velázquez, Rembrandt, Vermeer and the Spanish and Dutch Golden Age, Museo del Prado, Madrid: 25 June-29 September 2019

This is archived material. It is for reference purposes only.

Some of the most recognisable names in the world of Spanish and Dutch art will be at the Prado Museum in Madrid in the summer 2019.

What do the great masters from the Netherlands and Spain in the late 16th and early 17th centuries have in common? The exhibition at the Prado Museum aims to compare and contrast the artistic traditions of both countries and reflect on their shared traits, exhibiting works of major artists of the likes of Vermeer, Rembrandt, Ribera and Velázquez side by side so the parallelisms can be more easily established by the layman viewers.

The exhibition is the result of the collaboration of the Prado Museum and the Rjksmuseum in Amsterdam, which had lent a sizeable body of works for the occasion.
