Forty-five work exhibition of Robert Mapplethorpe, curated by Flaminia Gennari Santori.

Gallerie Corsini displays forty-five works of the legendary photographer from the 15th of March to 30th of June 2019, which also marks the thirthieth anniversary of his death. Robert Mapplethorpe, born in 1946, began to study drawing and sculpture, but eventually turned to photography which he felt was more honest. Mapplethorpe is known for his work in black and white, compositions of male and female nudes and his still-life flowers.

The exhibition will focus on those images that best capture the more typical themes and production of Robert Mapplethorpe, an artist whose art was seen as very controversial. This exhibition was organized together with the Robert Mapplethorpe Foundation and connects to other existing exhibitions in New York and Naples.

Considered to be one of the most important artists of the twenieth century, he made challenging art all the way until his death in 1989. Visit this exhibition curated by Flaminia Gennari Santorini and explore the artworks’ relationship with the gallery and its visitors.
