The Camera and the City delves into urban photography from the early-20th century to the present thanks to works from the Centre Pompidou in Paris as well as some of the most outstanding collections of Spanish photography.

This exhibition, based on the collection from the Centre Pompidou and photographs and film material from Spanish collections, probes into the history of the city using a  mix of historical photographs, such as the iconic “Paris by night” series by Brassaï, the surrealist prints by Cartier-Bresson, together with contemporary works such as Philippe-Lorca's projects diCorcia or Barbara Probst. Finally, the exhibition opens to the future, where it places the street in the era of globalization from the point of view of Paola Yacoub or the virtual street of Google Street View under the prism of Viktoria Binschtok

These stories reveal the euphoria of the metropolis and the solitude of the modern city, of war and reconciliation, of protest and change.
