Art and Myth: Gods at the Prado takes a fresh look at classical mythology and how it has been interpreted in the history of art through paintings, sculptures and medallions in the Pado by such great artists as Rubens, Ribera and Zurbarán.

The exhibition "Art and myth. The gods of the Prado" brings together a hand-picked selection of works that are part of the collections of the Prado. Through paintings, sculptures and medals - dated between the 1st century BC. C. and the end of the 18th century– a profound inspection is offered on classical mythology and how it has been portrayed throughout the history of art.

The exhibition explains the different portrayals of a god or a myth according to an iconographic criterion over time, making it  possible to appreciate the iconographic, geographical and chronological richness of the collections of the Prado Museum, at the same time instead of seeing these in the usual way when they are most often  exhibited according to their school or artistic period.
