The Bay of Tono, Milazzo, Sicily

The Baia del Tono is a Sicilian beach located in the territory of Milazzo.

This is the final part of the Ponente waterfront, called "’ Ngonia del Tono "by the people of Milazzo. The beach suddenly curves, bending in the place where one of the largest "Tonnare" or place for fishing nets stands. In this area, the Tonnaroti (fishermen) prepared what was needed for the fishing season. From the Tono, you can see on one side the Castle and the Fortified Citadel, on the other the Aeolian Islands. There is also a votive shrine with a marble inscription that bears the date of 1907 and the dedication of the sailors of the Tonnara to Maria Consolatrice.
