The result of the first collaboration between Richard Strauss and Hugo Von Hofmannsthal, Elektra marks an important stage in the evolution of 20th-century music. Using a gigantic orchestra, the composer wrote his most audacious and dramatic score, requiring the singers to transcend their limits in order to render the harshness and violence of a barbaric world pierced by a few flashes of light.
