This is archived material. It is for reference purposes only.

The Picasso Museum in Barcelona hosts an exhibition dedicated to Brigitte Baer.

In May 2015, David Leclerc, Brigitte Baer's nephew, donated Brigitte Baer's personal archive to the Museu Picasso in Barcelona on the advice of Paco Rebés, Brigitte's gallery owner and friend. At the same time, the Galerie Kornfeld, publisher of the catalog raisonné of Picasso's graphic work, donated the working documents that Bernhard Geiser had conceived for the publication of the first two volumes of the catalog and the photographs of the works used.

Brigitte Leclerc, known as Brigitte Baer, was born on 9 June 1931 in Paris, daughter of the lineage of Parisian editors Armand Colin, with whom she worked from the age of 18. In 1975 Maurice Rheims, auction curator-appraiser in charge of Picasso's legacy, suggested that she work with him, and that is how she spent five years inventorying works. It is then that she becomes familiar with the work of Picasso and also discovers her passion for engraving.

The Brigitte Baer archive is a journey through her research work on the graphic work of Picasso. The catalog files of Picasso's graphic works, together with the more than 12,000 photographs that reproduce the artist's works, are the core of the archive. With the idea of continuing to work with the Museum's art collection, in which works of art and documents activate each other to keep heritage alive, the Research Center has opted to take a new look at the archive and make it available to the community while respecting its living and changing identity.
