Beatles-Platz, Hamburg

The Beatles-Platz is a  square in St. Pauli district near the Reeperbahn. In 2008 a memorial to the Beatles was built here:  circular black flooring  with a diameter of almost 30 metres, reminding one of a vinyl record. The surface of the "record" consists of black granite stone into which stainless steel bands have been inserted, on which around 70 Beatles song titles are engraved.

The Beatles in the form of silhouettes of  sculpted stainless steel resemble a  band during a live performance.

This square is meant to remind people of the   importance of Hamburg in the history of the Beatles, who took a big step on their way to their world career when they performed in the ‘Star-Club’, ‘Kaiserkeller’, ‘Top Ten Club’ and in the ‘Indra’ clubs on the Reeperbahn.
