The Bektashi Turbe (tomb), Gjirokastra

Situated to the right, about 50 metres inside the main gate,  you will see a small building tucked into the walls of the castle in the middle of a pretty garden.

It contains the remains of two Bektashi Babas. The Bektashi Order or Bektashism is an Islamic Sufi mystic order dating back to the 13th-century. It is named after the saint Haji Bektash Veli who died in the late 13th century. The Albanian community is currently led by Baba Mondi, their eighth Bektashi Dedebaba with headquarters in Tirana, Albania.
