For an alternative to an overpriced Starbucks cup of coffee, head to Slake Coffeehouse on a side street just off Place des Jacobins. This warm and friendly café has very welcoming staff and can be for either a quick coffee on a rainy day or for a light Sunday brunch.

They serve a selection of hot drinks, cakes and cookies as well as breakfast and lunch menus from €4. Lunch options include sandwiches, salads and quiches that change frequently, so check the chalkboard for the daily special.

Everything is made on site with fresh and locally sourced ingredients. They also offer a set Sunday brunch menu for €22.
