This UNESCO World Heritage site spreads across three towns, spanning 6.235 hectares.
The site, on the northern coast of Sicily, is made up of three churches, three cathedrals, a chapel, a palace and a bridge. The nine structures include Byzantine, Islamic and Western styles. This reflects the mix of cultures in the Norman kingdom of Sicily during the 12th century. Seven of the nine sites are in Palermo. The remaining two sites are in the towns of Cefalù and Monreale, just a short drive away.
