Not far from the Southern coast of Sicily, just outside the town of Agrigento, the Valle dei Templi (Valley of Temples) is one of the most exceptional examples of Ancient Greek civilisation.
Journey back to Ancient Greece with a wander around this archaeological site, with its magnificent ruins of seven temples. Unsurprisingly the Valle Dei Templi is recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
The show-stopper is the Temple of Concordia, which is among the most well-preserved edifices of Greek Doric-style architecture in the world. This temple has 38 columns and its history goes far beyond its Greek roots. The temple was altered throughout periods of the Roman Empire and was eventually converted to a Christian Basilica in the sixth-century AD.
