Choreographer Carolyn Carlson sets her dancers in motion to an original score by René Aubry and gives life to a dreamlike piece on the stage of the Opera Bastille in 2023.
Created in 1997 for the Paris Opera Ballet, this work was born of painter Olivier Debré's desire to translate into a series of abstract paintings the associations that the smile, the first of "signs", inspired in him. From these flamboyant painted landscapes, representing different places in the world like so many moods and feelings, the choreographer Carolyn Carlson sets the dancers in motion to an original score by René Aubry, giving life to a dreamlike work. Now a favourite in the Opera's repertoire, Signes returns to the Opéra Bastille stage.
