Palace of the Marquises of Fronteira, Lisbon

A Portuguese palace still inhabited by the current Marquess of Fronteira.

The 1st Marquis of Fronteira, Dom João de Mascarenhas, built this palace in 1671 as a hunting pavilion. Today, it is still the home of the Marquises of Fronteira but you can go to look around.

You can explore the many rooms, walk on Persian carpets, and admire the traditional blue and white Portuguese tiles that decorate the house.

Make sure you go into the garden and admire all the busts of the Kings of Portugal.
