Caru' cu bere, Bucharest

The oldest in Bucharest, this restaurant has been owned by the same family for generations, with the exception of when it was nationalised during the communist regime.

The oldest in Bucharest, this restaurant has been owned by the same family for generations, with the exception of when it was nationalised during the communist regime. It began life as a brewery, and the restaurant still serves its own beer to complement their delicious selection of Romanian food and local specialities. The dining experience is like no other, as the interior is even more beautiful than the stunning gothic brickwork on the outside. Gaze up at the high painted ceilings and ornate woodwork, and in the evening you might be treated to impromptu folklore music. Alternatively, you could opt for a decadent brunch on the sunny outside terrace.
