Astrid Lindgren is as hallowed in Sweden as Roald Dahl is in the UK, and Junibacken is the children’s cultural centre where Lindgren’s best-loved works come to life.
Highlights include Storybook Square where you can visit Pippi Longstocking’s house, or taking a ride on the Story Train to meet the likes of Emil and Karlsson. If you listen to the Swedish version, it’s Lindgren’s voice retelling her most famous fairytales.
A children’s acting ensemble also performs Pippi Moves In at Villa Villekulla. It’s only in Swedish, but it's not short of singing and music.
